It is one of the old villages , which was mentioned in the dictionary
as Tokh mogol.It kept this name until 1808 when was known as Tokh El- Molk because it was located in the agricultural land in EL-Molka and which was best known after constructing tohk section in 1826.
One of its old villages is " Meet Kenana" which is attributed to " Met Kenana" tribe lived in this place.
The famous people from tokh are EL-LEETH BIN SAAD EL-FAKEEZ. And the historian and author EL-Kalkashendy who wrote " Sobeh EL-Aasha" Book , the biggest Arabic Islamic encyclopedia in Mamlouk epoch. The city is famous for chemical industries and ceramics products.
