Qalyub City:

One of the oldest cities of the governorate. It is said that has 1700 orchards. The city has Sedi Awad Mosque , One of the ancient good people who had the honor to defense Islam.
From the old Islamic mosques too , El-Zaher Bibarss mosque built since the Mamlouki epoch.
Qalyub contributed to Cairo Revolution in 1879 and it was one of the centers of people's resistance against the French invaders. From the most important attractions are Abo El-Manga barrages constructed by king El-Zaher Bebars in 615 A.H. still remain in " Meet Nama" village on agriculture land decorated with lion statues which were the symbol of king Zaher Bebars.
From the important industries are caned food , agriculture and animals products , automotives industry , iron and metallurgical industries , spinning and textiles.
The number of rural units is (6) which are ( Balks - Sendyoum - Sanafeer- Tanan- Meet Halafa - Nay) The number of affiliated villages is (17)
